How to protect your hair at the beach

Summer: sun, sea, heat. It's finally time to relax on the beach!
But while the warm weather can bring us much satisfaction and happy thoughts, we must also remember how much it can impact our bodies. We hydrate and protect our skin, and that's perfectly fine, but isn't there something we're neglecting? Yes, our hair!

More frequent washing, salt water, chlorine, wind, and sun can all make hair drier, duller, and more brittle. However, despite being aware of these dangers, we often put hair care aside in the heat of summer, only to find ourselves with seriously damaged locks after the holidays, completely unprepared for the chestnut season that arrives shortly after our return from vacation.

Hair and scalp need to be protected and cared for in the summer, not only for aesthetic reasons , but above all to avoid damaging the functionality of the hair follicles and, consequently, increasing hair loss.

Before the summer months, it would be best to avoid aggressive chemical treatments (this should always be true, but now more than ever), especially if you already know you will be spending a lot of time exposed to the sun.

Therefore, postpone bleaching, perms and similar treatments until after the summer.

Hair by the sea

At the beach we can adopt different solutions to take care of our hair in the best way:

• • First of all, where possible,  use a physical barrier to block the sun's rays , such as a hat.
    
  • When this isn't possible and you're directly exposed to the sun's rays, use a protective product, such as an oil. This will help  create a barrier around the hair, protecting it from the sun, wind, and salt water.
